Meridith is a very beautiful, bright tortoiseshell (a kind of calico) cat, with short thick fur and golden green eyes. She is very sweet and playful, loves running around to play chase with other kittens, and pouncing on toy mice. This lovely young cat has one favorite stuffed mouse with leopard-print fur and she loves to carry it around the foster home in her mouth. In fact, I have seen her carrying it around in her mouth while she was batting another toy around on the floor! What a silly cat.
Meridith was born in a shed where a feral cat had hidden to give birth to her babies. This is not a good location for baby kittens and Meredith had a severe upper respiratory infection (URI) when we rescued her. In fact, all the kittens in her litter were so sick that Meridith is the only one who lived. She was a little fighter and was determined to survive.
Meredith had quite a battle to overcome because she had a terrible baceterial infection in her eyes on top of the URI. We treated this eye infection with antibiotics and daily cleanings until her eyes finally cleared up. Unfortunately, Meridith has scarring on her eyes because the infection was so severe before we rescued her and could start treating it. This scarring makes her eyes look funny but it does not affect her ability to see and function like a normal cat. In addition, it should not get any worse from this point so there is no reason she cannot have a normal cat life.
If your family is looking for a loving cat and is willing to accept Meredith with slightly imperfect eyes, please come visit her at one of our adoption events and see if she is the one for you.
